Environmental, Health, Safety, and Security (EHS&S) Policy
Texas Petrochemicals’ vision is to protect people and the environment; therefore, we conduct all of our operations and manage all of our products in a safe, reliable, environmentally responsible, and efficient manner. We strive to achieve excellence in environmental, health, process safety, safety, and security performance.
To accomplish this, it is Texas Petrochemicals’ policy to:
- Assure conformance to the letter and spirit of all applicable EHS&S regulations and legislation, regardless of the degree of enforcement from regulatory and enforcing government agencies
- Go beyond compliance where, in the opinion of management, it supports TPC’s objectives
- Use risk assessment, risk prioritization, and risk management principles to make decisions and manage our internal resources
- Seek and achieve appropriate management systems third party certifications and use the principles and requirements of management systems to guide all aspects of our operations and product management
- Apply systematic approaches and drive continuous improvement in our programs, systems, implementation, and performance through management review, metrics, and goals
- Seek sustainable operations through energy and resource conservation and by reducing wastes and emissions
Manage change in a manner consistent with this policy
- Participate responsibly and ethically in the regulatory and legislative advocacy process where, in the opinion of management, it supports TPC’s objectives
- Develop partnerships with our stakeholders that are based on open dialogue, credibility, and accountability for our actions
- Report our progress to our stakeholders and to the public at large
- Be transparent in our actions and communications
- Provide training and education to employees to ensure understanding of this policy, applicable requirements, and their individual responsibilities
EHS&S is integral to all of our business activities. This policy applies to all aspects of our business including planning, research, development, design, construction, operation, maintenance, marketing, commercial transactions, transportation, distribution, and delivery.
Leadership is a key factor for success. Within Texas Petrochemicals, our leaders are accountable for implementing this policy. All employees are responsible to know and understand the applicable environmental, health, safety, and security requirements for their jobs, to follow the requirements, to encourage fellow employees to do the same, and to raise any concerns to management or a member of the EHS&S or legal departments.
